WHAT WE BELIEVE
WE BELIEVE IN SCRIPTURE
The Holy Bible is the divinely inspired, written Word of God, without error. In it, God reveals His character, His will, His purposes, His design for life and ministry, and His external promises for those who believe. Psalm 19:7-11; Isaiah 55:11; Matthew 7:24-27; 24:35; Romans 16:25-26; II Timothy 3:15-17; II Peter 1:20.
WE BELIEVE GOD THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT
There is only one true and living God who is holy and perfect. He reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; three equally divine persons, in unity as one.
God the Father - God the Father is Creator, sustainer, and eternal, Almighty Lord of all creation. He is the only true God and is One with the Son and the Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1; Dueteronomy 6:4; Psalm 29:10; 29:104; John 1:1; 1:29; 10:30; 17:22; II Corinthians 3:17; Ephesians 4:6; Revelation 4:8.
God the Son - Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God - fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, was crucified for the sins of the world, rose from the dead on the third day, ascended to heaven, and sits at the Father's righ hand.
God the Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit of God was sent by Jesus and the Father to dwell in all believers as the seal of their redemption, their Comforter, and source of their power for Holy living, for ministry, and for witness. Luke 4:18; 24:49; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 2:33; I Corinthians 12:7; II Corinthians 5:3; Galatians 5:22-25; Ephesians 1:13-14.
WE BELIEVE IN SALVATION
Man (male and female) was created by God to have fellowship with Him. Man fell through the sin of Adam and can be redeemed only by God's grace. Our salvation is the priceless gift provided to man through Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross and His victory of sin, death, and satan. It is freely given to man through God's grace and mercy for all who will acknowledge their sin, repent, and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. When we receive God's gift of salvation, man is born again, a child of God, a new creation, capable of serving God, living a holy life in this world, and abiding eternally with Him in the age to come. Genesis 1:1; 2:17; John 1:12; 3:3-21; Romans 5:15-16; 6:6-7; 6:12-13; 12:1-2; I Corinthians 15:21-22; II Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 3:26; 6:15; Ephesians 2:8-10; I Peter 1:23; Revelation 21:3-4.
WE BELIEVE IN BAPTISM
All who have been saved by faith in Jesus Christ are to be baptized by immersion, following the example of Jesus' own obedience, as a public testimony that they have died to sin and have been raised again to newness of life. Matthew 3:13-15; 28:19; Romans 6:3-5; Galatians 3:27.
WE BELIEVE IN THE LORD'S SUPPER
It is a privilege of every born again believer to participate in the Lord's Supper, commemorating Christ's death and resurrection, celebrating the unity of the body of Christ, and anticipating our Lord's return. Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:14-20; I Corinthians 10:16-17; I Corinthians 11:24-26.
WE BELIEVE IN THE CHURCH
Highpoint Church is a fellowship of baptized believers and a part of the universal body of Christ. Under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we function in love and unity as His Body to bring glory and honor to God through our worship, witness, and ministry in this community and throughout the world until His return. Matthew 5:14-16; 16:18; 28:19; Mark 16:15; John 10:16; 13:34-35; 17:20-21; Acts 1:8; 2:42-47; Ephesians 2:6; 4:1-5; 5:1-2; Colossians 1:18.
WE BELIEVE IN THE LAST JUDGEMENT
At God's appointed time, Jesus will return in glory to the earth and will judge the living and the dead: those who have been saved through faith in Jesus will live with Him eternally; those who have not will be cast into an everlasting lake of fire. Matthew 24:24-31; 25:31-32; John 5:24-29; I Thessalonians 4:15-18; II Thessalonians 2:8; Revelation 19:11-21; 20:4-6; 20:11-15.
WE BELIEVE IN THE CALLING OF ALL BELIEVERS
We believe it is the calling and privilege of every believer to live a Godly life that demonstrates God's love, to pray, to worship God, to study God's Word, to give for the support of God's work, to be a witness of the unsaved, to live in fellowship with other believers, and to minister within the church as God has uniquely gifted each one through the Holy Spirit. Psalm 1:2; 29:2; Malachi 3:10; Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 24:48; John 4:23-24; Acts 1:8; 2:42; Romans 12:5-8; I Corinthians 12:7; II Corinthians 9:6-10; Galatians 5:13; Philippians 3:3; I Thessalonians 5:17; I Timothy 2:8; II Timothy 3:14-15; Hebrews 10:24-25; James 5:16; I John 1:3-7.
